Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been urged to ensure transparency in the conduct of the governorship election in Ondo State.
Former Presidential Campaign Council Director, All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Theodore Ekechi who told journalists in Abuja that a free and fair election would bring a peaceful atmosphere in the state, commended President Muhammadu Buhari over his neutrality in the just concluded Gubernatorial Election in Edo State.
Dr. Ekechi who is also a member representing the South/East Geopolitical Zone in the North East Development Commission (NEDC) noted that President Muhammad Buhari needed to be commended especially for ensuring that the lives and properties of the electorate were preserved before, during, and after the election.
Dr. Ekechi who was a former Commissioner of Information and Strategy in Imo State described President Muhammadu Buhari as an icon of democracy for allowing the people’s vote count in Edo state when many political watchers believed that the ruling APC will take advantage of the Federal might.
While commending the security agencies for their professionalism and urging them to exhibit the same during the forthcoming election in Ondo State, Dr. Ekechi urged Governor Obaseki to rise above partisan politics and deliver the dividends of democracy to the electorate in Edo who voted him to power.
