Osun State Football Association OSFA, has urged the organizers of the Timi Agbale Unity Cup to shift the tournament which was scheduled to hold this weekend at Agboran School of Science football pitch,Ede, Osun State.
The competition according to the organizers would now kick off on 10, October, 2020, while draws football ceremony holds 8, October at Ede North Local Government Council, Osun State.
In a statement issued by Osun FA copied our correspondent, stated that the Osun State football ruling body has discussed with organizing committee to put the tourney on hold pending the time the Federal Government would lift ban on contact sports nationwide.
In his swift reaction, the match coordinator of Timi Agbale Unity Cup, Akin Oyedunmola while addressing the Journalists in Ede said they have obeyed the directives of the state football ruling body urging the participating teams to remain calm and patience with the organizers.
“Following the press statement issued by Osun State Football Association to shift our competition due to the lockdown on sports, we have resolved in the executive committee meeting to comply to the directives of Osun FA and fixed 10, October as tentative date for the commencement of the competition while the draws ceremony would hold two days before the kickoff,” he said.
Oyedunmola appealed to the participating teams to continue preparing for the tournament noted that the tourney which put together to honour His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, Laminisa 1, Timi Of Ede Land would commence immediately the government lifts ban on contact sports.
“We’re so sorry for the postponement and inconveniences this may cause our participating teams and I believe that the extension will be a blessing and makes us to put all public health measures in place for the commencement of the tournament,” he said. .
