The Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has said he will continue to prioritise workers welfare and retool the public service by driving efficiency capacity building and injecting new blood into the system.
Akeredolu stated this on Thursday while giving out the letter of appointment to 35 physically challenged into the State Civil service at the Cocoa Conference Hall in Akure, the State capital.
Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Tayo Oluwatuyi, said from inception of this administration, matters that deals with the public are treated with high premium.
Akeredolu further said that approvals have been granted by the State Government to recruit across different sectors of the State in the 18 Local Governments since the inception of office in 2017 and total numbers to be recruited before the end of the administration would be 4042.
“This was demonstrated by the fact that Ondo State was listed among the leading states in Nigeria that implemented the N30,000 minimum wage”
“We are aware that the current unemployment crisis is a global socio-economic phenomenon. It us endemic in nature and has posed a great challenge to Government in all the nations of the world” he said
Akeredolu added that State Government has granted approval to recruit personnels into various sectors of the State Public Service in spite of the dwindling financial fortune of both the State and Federal Government.
“This is a confirmation of our recognition of the rights of our colleagues with disabilities so that they would not be subjected to discrimination particularly, with respect to employment opportunities in the State” he said
He further implore servants in the State to reciprocate the efforts of this administration by cooperating with Government in the pursuit of its goal and aspirations.
Also speaking, Head of Service, Dare Aragbaiye expressed total discharge of service to the public should be utmost priority of the newly recruited physically challenged.
In his goodwill message, the Grand patron for the Persons Living with disabilities in Ondo State, Tunji Abayomi said the priority of the Government is employment and this Government made it a reality.
Abayomi also appreciated Akeredolu for the gesture he described as the first in the state and the protection of rights given to persons living with Disabilities.
