Ahead of Local Government election in Ondo State scheduled for Saturday, 5,000 police operatives will be deployed to provide security during the polls.
The State Commissioner of Police, Bolaji Salami made this disclosure on Wednesday, stating that the security aspect of the polls will be water-tight adequately monitored.
Salami, who appealed to stakeholders participating in the election to abide by the rules of the game, warned trouble makers to stay clear of the process.
The police boss, who warned against violence before, during and after the polls, disclosed that at least10 Police officers will monitor each of the polling units during the election.
He added that other sister security agencies including the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps(NSCDC) and the Department of State Services(DSS), will also be deployed for the election..
Speaking on the October 10, 2020 governorship election in the state, Salami also disclosed that police officers from neighbouring states of Edo, Osun, Ogun and Ekiti will join the over 5,000 police officers serving in the state.
It would be recalled that the Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission, (ODIEC), had fixed August 22 for the council polls in the state with about seven political parties participating in the process.
