Ondo Deputy Governor To Speaker: State Executive Plans To Remove You And I from Office By Offering 10m Bribe To Lawmakers

By Abimbola Ogunnaike

Ondo State Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi, has written a letter to the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Bamidele Oloyeogun, informing him of the plan by the state executive arm of government headed by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu to remove him (the speaker) from office.

Ajayi alleged in the letter that the aim was meant to pave way for his (Ajayi) eventual removal as deputy governor for exercising his constitutional right by defecting from the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP)

The letter, which was made available to Independent Observers by Media Officer to the Deputy Governor, Comrade Allen Sowore on Sunday, said invitation has been extended to the “19 of out of the 23 APC members of the State House of Assembly at the Government House Ground Alagbaka, Akure, on 28th June,2020, where the impeachment process against  the deputy governor will be finalised and financial inducement of  N10m for  their signatures will be offered.”

The deputy governor, who commended the speaker for holding forth the sanctity of the Hallow Chamber at this trying time in the state, said he was sure history will remember him for this.

He urged the speaker in the overall interest of the good people of Ondo State, to stay away from this clandestine plan to remove him (Deputy Governor) at all cost.

Ajayi said in the letter that he had no reason to doubt the integrity of the speaker, adding that” but there are desperate politicians in Alagbaka who will stop at nothing to arm twist the Honourable Members to carry out this illegal act.”

The deputy governor also informed the speaker that, “in their unbridled desire to remain in power, they have also planned to snatch the House of Assembly Mace – the symbol of authority from you. Be vigilant !”

Ajayi said the most desirable business of the chamber now should be the continue probe of the recovered but now missing  N4.3 billion.

Letter To Mr Speaker

The Speaker,
Ondo State House of Assembly,
Rt Hon. Bamidele David Oloyeogun,
Assembly Complex, Igbatoro, Akure.

Dear Mr Speaker,

I’m delighted and under patriotic obligation to write you this  all important letter. I must therefore,  first, commend you this.

Mr Speaker, I’m writing this letter to humbly bring to your notice that arrangements have been concluded and strategies perfected  by the state executive arm to orchestrate your removal as Speaker of the State House of Assembly. This is to pave way for the eventual removal of the Deputy Governor, His Excellency, Agboola Ajayi for exercising his constitutional right of association – leaving the All Progressives Congress, (APC) for the People’s Democratic Party, PDP).

To this end, invitation has been extended to the 19 of out of the 23 APC members of the State House of Assembly at the Government House Ground Alagbaka, Akure, on 28th June,2020, where the IMPEACHMENT process against AGBOOLA AJAYI  will be finalized and financial inducement of  N10m for their signatures will be offered.
(Invitation attached)

Mr Speaker, I have no reason to doubt your integrity. But there are desperate politicians in Alagbaka who will stop at nothing to armtwist the Honourable Members to carry out this illegal act.

I’m therefore compelled to urge you in the overall interest of the good people of Ondo State, to stay away from this  clandestine plan to remove the Deputy Governor at all cost.

I must equally inform you that, in their unbridled desire to remain in power, they have also planned to snatch the House of Assembly Mace – the symbol of authority from you. Be vigilant !

The most desirable business of the House of Assembly now should be the continue probe of the recovered but now missing  N4. 3 billion.

Mr Speaker, accept the assurance of my highest regards.

Yours Faithfully,
Comrade Allen Sowore
Media Adviser to the Deputy Governor
