The United Kingdom Government has donated 699,760 doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines to Nigeria.

Dr. Faisal Shuaib, the Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCD), at the official handover of the vaccines said the vaccine will be certified and approved by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) to ensure that those who have received their first dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine can go for the second dose.

The government warned against combining different brands of vaccines and urged Nigerians to stick to one brand as all brands of COVID-19 vaccines in the country are effective against the virus and its other variants.

Nigeria rolled out the second phase of COVID-19 vaccination on Monday with the 4 million doses of Moderna vaccine received from the U.S Government.
