Legislative Arm of Obi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State has impeached the Council Chairman Mohammed Iyimogah over alleged gross misconduct and abuse of office.
In a telephone interview with Radionigeria correspondent in Lafia, Leader of the Legislative Arm Luka Isaiah said eight out of ten councillors signed for the impeachment of the chairman.
Luka Isaiah alleged that the council Chairman embarked on projects involving millions of Naira without forwarding the proposals to the Legislative Arm for approval before execution.
He stated that the council chairman allegedly refused to provide the legislative arm detailed breakdown of funds the local government accessed as revenue allocation from the state government since he assumed office over two years ago.
Luka Isaiah also alleged that the Chairman on three different occasions sent thugs to disrupt the house proceedings and forcefully seized the legislative mace, an action the councillors described as gross abuse of office.
In a swift reaction, the embattled Chairman Mohammed Iyimoga who denied the allegation said the impeachment would not stand.
