Principals in secondary schools in Lagos have commended their students to adhering to Covid-19 protocols and guidelines laid down by the government.
Our correspondent who visited some schools in Alimosho local government, Lagos, observed that students complied with the public safety guidelines by using their face masks and maintain social distance throughout their stay in the school.
The Principal of Sophem High School, Mrs G.A Ikhahem has expressed satisfaction with the total compliance of her students since resumption two weeks ago.
“I am very happy and impressed that our students comply with the public health protocols and guidelines. Aside this, our teachers also comply with the guidelines too. It shows that we are in total support of government directives,”Ikhahem said.
She called on government “to continue sensitise our people about the pandemic disease so that people would take precautionary measure.”
Miss Dawodu Olusola, an Economics teacher in Sophem school , said all her colleagues complied with the government directives.
In his own comment, the Principal of Bois International School, MrTaofeek Kadir Olanrewaju said he is impressed with his student’s level of compliance to Covid-19 protocols and guidelines.
Olarenwaju is, however, worried about the students’ academic performance
“Our students did not disregard the government directives of Covid-19 but I am worried about their academic performance .Their exam is starting next week Monday (tomorrow) and many students have forgotten what they taught them before the lockdown,” he said.
While a Lagos based educationist, Idowu Afolayan has commended government for easing the lockdown gradually on education sector.
He said he has moved to various schools in Lagos and he was satisfied with the level of student’s total compliance.
“Many students that I saw in various schools in Lagos have complied with the Covid-19 possible,” Afolayan said.
