Kano Govt Sets To Conduct Drug Test On LG Workers

The Kano State Government says it would soon conduct drug test on employees of local government councils.

The Commissioner for Local Government, Murtala Garo stated this during a two day workshop organized by Kano state government in collaboration with National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Kano Command on creating awareness on drug and substance abuse at local government level .

Garo said the workshop became necessary to curtail the menace of drug abuse in Kano.

He urged all contestants in the councillorship and chairmanship election to undergo drug test with NDLEA to ensure that public office holders are not addicts.

The NDLEA Commander in Kano, Dr Ibrahim Abdul noted the side effects of drug abuse and said the sensitization was very timely.

The workshop was attended by senior officers of the forty-four local government areas of Kano state.
