Governor Ganduje made the call in Kano while addressing some youths under the aeiges of Coalition of Kano Youths who protested in support of the Federal Government’s effort to reform the Force.
He said eliminating the bad eggs among the policemen was necessary to restore people’s confidence in the entire system in the country.
“Fish out bad elements within the Force and the the establishment of SWAT was in the right direction taken by the Federal Government,” Governor Ganduje said.
He commended the youths for not coming out on the street to protest against SARS and entire police Force in view of the fact that the police were necessary as people could not exist without security agencies in the country.
Earlier ,the National Coordinator of the Coalition, Khalid Sanusi-Kane said they were in support of the reformation of the police and SWAT.
He, however, called on all those currently on the streets across the country protesting against SARS to suspend the action as the Federal Government had already scrapped the unit.
Sanusi-Kane called on the Federal Government to ensure adequate funding of the new SWAT to enable it discharge its duties effectively.
