Presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide popularly known as Winners’ Chapel, David Oyedepo has warnedagainst another closure of churches in Nigeria as a result of COVID-19 pandemic ravaging the country..
Oyedepo, who is always against the closure of churches, warned on Sunday that fire will fall the next time anyone tries to close down churches again in the country.
It would be recalled that the Cleric had claimed that the “voice of darkness”influenced the ban on gatherings in churches.
“God made us smarter than our enemies and we have not been fooled.
“It is only in this church that we heal COVID-19 patients, the government would not have asked me if they should close down the church. The next time anybody attempts to close down the church fire will fall.”
According to Oyedepo, very soon the world will realise that they have been fooled by the devil.
“Very soon the world will come to a point where they would say we have been fooled because the devil that is fooling the world has the capacity but thank God we in this church have not been fooled,” he said.
It would be recalled that in early may, Oyedapo berated President Muhammadu Buhari’s decision to reopen markets while keeping churches shut.
President Buhari had announced the gradual phasing out of the lockdown put in place to stop the spread of COVID-19 in Lagos, Ogun and the FCT.
The easing of restrictions however, excluded churches, mosques and schools.
Oyedepo, who spoke during the Covenant Hour of Prayer Programme, said if markets could be opened for six hours, there was no reason churches should not be opened for two hours.
“There is something wrong; for people to be allowed to be in the market for six hours and can’t be in church for two hours, it is an upside-down way of looking at things.
“Which one is more orderly? The market or the church?
“I can smell a rat. The Lord spoke to me on it so strong yesterday. I can smell a rat. Behind all this, how do we stop the church from exploding? The people involved don’t know it,” he said.
“The voice of darkness is influencing people at various levels, targeting the church because the growth and expansion of the church is the greatest headache of the devil.
“But the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. The devil and all his agents shall surely pay for this.
“I don’t know what hospital that records the kind of healings that the church of God records. And now hospitals, where people die every day, are open, but the church is closed because the oppression of the devil has no medical cure,” Oyedepo added.
