Ese Brume wins the first medal for Nigeria in Tokyo 2020

Long Jumper, Ese Brume has won a bronze medal in the Female Long Jump event at the ongoing Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Brume, who qualified final stage with a jump of 6.76m, leapt a distance of 6.97m to place third in the finals.

Malaika Mihambo of Germany clinched the gold medal with a 7.00m jump while U.S.A’s Brittney Reese clinched the silver medal with 6.97m.

Brume is Nigeria’s sole representative in the jumps in Tokyo since the disqualification of Ruth Usoro by the Athletics Integrity Unit.

Female Long Jump has won Nigeria some medals in past Olympics, including the gold from Chioma Ajunwa at Atlanta 1996, and silver by Blessing Okagbare at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
