Ekiti Assembly Speaker Calls For Preservation Of Indigenous Languages

The Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Mr. Funminiyi Afuye has called for the promotion of Indigenous languages among Nigerians.

Mr Afuye who made the call while featuring on the EKTV Yoruba program said the promotion of Indigenous languages would create room for a better understanding of local dialects.

He condemned some parents who discourage their children from speaking the Indigenous languages.
The speaker said that the inculcation of the western culture into the Nigerian system had eroded the local languages.

The Ikere born politician who chronicled how he started in life urged Nigerians to rise up and save the Indigenous languages from extinction.

He commended the management of the station for promoting indigenous languages while urging them not to relent.
