Edo 2020:Team Lagos Were Robbed from Winning Gold Medal In Football Event- Adeshina

The ambition of Team Lagos to win gold medal in both male and female category in the final of football event of the ongoing national sports festival suffered a big blow today following the bad officiating that greeted a match between Team Lagos male team and Edo in the pulsating tie that was watched by mammoth crowd.

In the female category, Lagos suffered 0-1 defeat to Edo as host denied their opponents from winning gold medals in both categories.
Team Lagos male team, Yusuf Adeshina in his swift reaction to our correspondent said it was a day light robbery in Edo. He said the intimidation, harassment and bad officiating were too much and there was nothing Lagos could do than to surrender to antics and tactics of Team Edo.
He explained that immediately Lagos scored two goals, the centre referee began to officiate in favour of the host.
“We scored clean two goals but Edo scored their own goals which were assisted by the officials. They pushed our keeper to score the two goals which I believed the referee ought to have disallowed it.
“It was not a good day for us because we were treated badly by the host just because they wanted to win gold medal at all cost in football event. Despite our defeat, I commend my players for their resilience and doggedness they showed throughout the match against all odds,” he said.
In his own comment, Sulaiman Ahmed expressed disappointment with the do or die affair syndrome the host displayed against Lagos in both categories. He said Lagos played against officials and fans which denied them from winning gold medal in football event.
