Depros FC Begin Open Football Trials In Lagos

By Sunday Akintoye

In order to prepare for Surulere Regional League, SRL and other high profile football competitions within and outside Lagos, the management of Depros Football Club of Ikeja has concluded plans to commence open football trials programme scheduled for September 15, 2020 at Sky power football pitch, Ikeja, Lagos.

In a statement issued by club chairman of the club, Emeka Godson Ehirim said the football trials programme is necessary for his team so as to recruit new players to fortify the team ahead of future challenges.

He explained that the essence of the football trials is to select good players that would feature for the club’s future programmes and urged the coaching crew to select the players based on merit during the open trials that would last for two weeks.

“We don’t want to lack behind in our preparation towards next season. We have lined up series of friendly matches and I need to see the new players how they would fight for the shirt. Also I will not leave the trials for the coaching crew only, I would also supervise the whole exercise so as to get the best at the end of the day,” he said.

Commenting on the welfare of the players, Ehirim said the club management has concluded plans to give the players winning bonus and other incentives that would make the players comfortable in the club.

Aside this, the Imo born football administrator said, the players would also enjoy to play outside Lagos and get club offer in Nigeria or outside the country. He urged the players who are coming for the trials to be disciplined, committed and serious so that they can achieve the purpose of coming to Depros FC.

“The welfare of the coaching crew and players are paramount to me. I have welfare package for the players and coaching crew and other management staff if they can give their best for the club and win or qualify for super eight of surulere regional league and excel in other high profile football competitions, I will fulfil my promise too.

“Secondly, I am also bringing football scouts to our training ground  during the trials programme to see how the players are playing maybe some players can attract foreign offers or possibly look the way how they can feature in Nigerian league. Football is business all over the world and I need to look for a way to market my players instead of staying with me for years,” he said.
