Anxiety permeated the Ita Faji, Lagos Island area on Wednesday morning as many primary school pupils were feared dead after the collapse of a three-storeyed building housing their school.
The incident happened around 10am.
No fewer than 10 pupils had been removed from the rubble so far.
“It is terrible. Parents are crying. I can’t withstand the gorry sight,” a resident in the area told newsmen.
Mr. Kehinde Adebayo, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, (LASEMA), said that emergency officials were already on ground.
