A 20-year-old woman was declared dead yesterday morning and 24 hours later she was alive.
A very bizarre occurrence recently took place at a Detroit funeral home. A local woman who was initially pronounced dead was discovered to be very much alive after she started breathing while inside the funeral home, and the South field Fire Department in suburban metro Detroit, Mich., is trying to figure out what happened.
@ABCNews reports, employees at a Detroit funeral home made the shocking discovery that a 20 year old woman was found breathing hours after she was declared dead by paramedics and sent to the mortuary by her grieving family. The woman was found alive on August 23rd at the James H. Cole Funeral home and then taken to a hospital, according to local authorities.
The woman was declared dead by paramedics who responded to a home in the Detroit suburb of South field around 7:34 am on the morning of the incident following a call of an unresponsive female, Chief Johnny L. Menifee of the South field fire department said in a statement .
South field Fire Department officials say there was no foul play in the incident, adding that “all protocols were followed.”
Inside sources said before she was taken to the funeral home South-field police allegedly saw her move and breathe and called the fire crews back, but fire crews claim those were “the side effects of the medication given to her.”
The funeral home later released a statement confirming the incident.
“After receiving clearance from the Oakland County Medical Examiner’s office she was transported to our funeral home. Upon her arrival at the funeral home, our staff confirmed she was breathing and called EMS. Our thoughts and prayers are with this young woman and her family.”
The city of South-field said it is conducting an internal investigation.
